A father and his 3-year-old son were found dead in their room at Great Wolf Lodge after police responded to a call from the child’s mother, according to court documents.

Metallica Rose Harrison, 27, of Towanda, Pennsylvania, is charged with two counts of criminal homicide in the deaths of her husband, Charles Harrison, and their son. Police were called to the resort in Scotrun, in the Poconos, on Oct. 12.

An affidavit reported by NBC10 Philadelphia says the family had been staying there since Sept. 21 and extended their reservation through Oct. 13.

A Call for Help From the Room

Officers arrived around 3:13 p.m. after a report of a woman in distress. The complaint says Harrison indicated during the 911 call that her husband and son were dead.

Police found both victims in the room. Harrison was taken to a hospital for treatment of her own injuries.

Investigators allege that she killed them before attempting to take her own life. The charges have not been proven at trial.

Investigators Search the Family Home

The investigation also reached the family’s home in Towanda. ABC News reported on Oct. 14 that police sought evidence that might explain the deaths and why the family had been staying at the resort for about three weeks.

An inventory filed with the court listed items seized from the home, including a journal, a financial notebook and a laptop. A motive has not been established.

Great Wolf Lodge expressed condolences and said it was cooperating with police.

A Hearing Is Scheduled

Harrison was denied bail at her arraignment, police said. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 21. The reported court docket did not list an attorney.

The deaths remain under investigation.
