Former Jeopardy Winner Faces 10 New Felony Charges
By Jordan Reyes. Nov 6, 2026
Former Jeopardy! winner Philip Joseph ‘Joey’ DeSena was arrested again in North Carolina on October 23, months after pleading guilty in a secret-camera case. This time, the 44-year-old faces 10 felony counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, according to WRAL and WBTV. He was denied bond on the new allegations.
New Charges After an Earlier Case
The latest arrest followed warrants issued October 22. Investigators allege DeSena duplicated sexually explicit image and video files depicting children. WRAL reported that the warrants identify an alleged offense date of November 19, 2025. The new counts are accusations; DeSena has not been convicted of them.
The arrest followed an earlier case involving cameras allegedly concealed in a bathroom and bedroom. Authorities arrested DeSena on two felony secret-peeping counts in December 2025. He pleaded guilty in July 2026 and was sentenced to 60 months of probation, with additional court-ordered conditions, WBTV reported.
His Jeopardy Appearances
DeSena competed on Jeopardy! in November 2024, won two games and earned $44,698. He also appeared in the Champions Wildcard tournament in January 2025, WBTV reported. By the time of the October arrest, he was serving probation from the earlier case.
Next Hearing
The October warrants were issued the day before his arrest, WRAL reported. After DeSena was booked into Wake County jail, a judge denied bond. His next appearance on the new counts was scheduled for November 16. He has not been convicted of those charges.
