Man Strangled Girlfriend, Then Died Dumping Her Body
By Dana Whitfield. Jul 1, 2026
A Georgia man died of a heart attack while trying to dump the body of the girlfriend he had just strangled to death, according to an Alabama district attorney, leaving both of their bodies in the same patch of woods.
Daniel Robbins, 44, and Jessica Folds, 47, were found together on June 10 in a wooded area along County Road 86 in Lanett, Alabama, after a passerby reported an idling truck with its door open and tailgate down.
Found Together in the Woods
Deputies followed drag marks from the truck into the trees, where they found both bodies. Robbins was in a fetal position; Folds was found with her hands raised over her head.
What the Autopsy Showed
Chambers County District Attorney Mike Segrest said an autopsy confirmed Folds had been strangled, and that the evidence indicated Robbins was in the process of moving her body into a remote location when his heart gave out. “Their bodies were right there together,” Segrest said.
Robbins’ ex-wife told reporters he had a pre-existing heart condition. No evidence has shown where the strangulation took place, though Segrest said he believes it was the result of a domestic incident.
A Bitter Irony
Investigators have not identified a motive. The case remains open, though Segrest said there is no ongoing threat to the public, since the only two people involved are both dead.
Remembering Jessica
Folds, a mother of three adult sons, was remembered in her obituary as someone who touched the lives of many with “her heart of gold.” Robbins is survived by a daughter.
