Father Helped Hide Daughter's Dismembered Boyfriend

A San Angelo, Texas, woman has confessed to killing her live-in boyfriend and disposing of his remains, and police say her father helped her hide what she had done.

Audrey Reannan Troncoso, 31, was arrested June 24 and charged with murder in the death of 34-year-old Roland Matthew Sheppard, after an anonymous tip led officers to a residence on Parker Street.

San Angelo Police Chief Travis Griffith said the killing was among “one of the most violent homicides in recent memory” the department has investigated. Detectives recovered portions of Sheppard’s remains at a landfill and at a dumpster outside a nearby apartment complex.

A Father’s Alleged Role

The day after his daughter’s arrest, Mario Valdes Troncoso Jr., 54, was taken into custody and charged with tampering with or fabricating physical evidence. According to an affidavit, Audrey told investigators she called her father for help because she couldn’t move Sheppard’s body alone, and that he came to the residence and assisted her in transporting the remains.

Both Held on Bond

Mario Troncoso was held on a $100,000 bond and released Monday. Audrey Troncoso remains in custody on a $2 million bond.

Police have not disclosed what led to the killing. Investigators say the two had been in a live-in relationship, and the case remains open as detectives work to determine a motive.
