Savannah Guthrie has spent six months asking one question she still cannot answer: where is her mother?

Nancy Guthrie, 84, disappeared on February 1, 2026, from her home outside Tucson, Arizona. On July 27, days before the six-month mark, Savannah released a new public plea asking anyone with information to help bring her mother home. No suspect has been arrested, and Nancy has not been found.

Nancy Guthrie Lived Independently in Her 80s

Nancy Guthrie raised four children, including Savannah, in Tucson, where she continued living independently in her 80s. Savannah Guthrie co-anchors NBC’s ‘Today’ show. In the July 27 video, she said: ‘We are in a nightmare that will not end. Nothing about our situation has changed.’

What the Night of February 1 Showed

The night of February 1 followed a family dinner. Nancy had taken an Uber to her daughter’s home and was dropped off at her own house by family at approximately 9:48 p.m. Her garage door opened and closed in a two-minute window. After that, she was not seen again.

Investigators found drops of blood on the front porch. Her phone, Apple Watch, and medications were still inside the house. Her doorbell camera had been disconnected. Pima County Sheriff’s investigators and the FBI responded. Multiple ransom notes arrived in the weeks that followed. Authorities determined most to be fraudulent, though some remain under evaluation.

On July 31, 2026, Pima County officials released two ransom notes and asked the public to help identify the writer. One demanded $4 million in bitcoin and claimed Nancy would be returned safely. A later note claimed she had died, but authorities have not confirmed that claim. No ransom exchange has been announced.

Six Months In - Still No Suspect

The FBI joined the case as investigators reviewed surveillance footage, DNA evidence, ransom notes, and records connected to the home. FBI Director Kash Patel has publicly discussed the investigation, including concerns about delays in obtaining some surveillance footage.

No arrest has been made. Authorities have not named a suspect. Investigators have released surveillance images from outside Nancy Guthrie’s home but have not publicly identified the person shown. Savannah Guthrie has said the family does not know whether her mother’s abduction is connected to her own public profile as a television anchor.

‘Tell Us Where to Look for Her’

Savannah Guthrie’s July 27 video included a direct appeal: ‘Tell us where to look for her.’ Her family has offered a $1 million reward, and the FBI has offered an additional $100,000 for information leading to Nancy’s recovery or the arrest and conviction of those responsible. Six months after the abduction, authorities still have not announced an arrest.
